False Christ’s

Just as Old Testament scriptures prophesied the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ some of which were recorded about a 1000 years prior to His birth; so scriptures both in the Old and New Testament talk about Jesus coming again.  This time not as a suffering servant but as a conquering King.  The disciples themselves wanted to know when that would be.

Matthew 24 verse 3;  As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?”

They wanted to know when the period of government by men would end and when Jesus would reign in their place.  Ever since Jesus was asked this question by His disciples man has pondered the same question through the ages:  When will the close of life as we know it happen. Hollywood has been making films about impeding disasters that threaten the existence of life as we know it:-

Armaggedon (in 1998) an asteroid is on collision course with earth

The Day After Tomorrow (in 2004) new ice age

I Robot (in 2004) robot’s try to take over the world

I Am Legend (in 2007) a plague kills humans or turns them into monstrosities

2012 (in 2009) world flood

But what did Jesus say? In the following verses in Matthew chapter 24 verses 4 to 8, He told the disciples what some of the signs leading up to the end of the age would be.

And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray.

For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.

And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

In Matthew 24 verses 4 & 5 Jesus warned that prior to His coming reign there would be a rise in false religious leaders, many claiming to be the Christ and many people would be deceived by their claims.

In the 20th and so far in the 21st century there has been a plethora of people claiming to be the Christ you only have to look on the Internet to see the numbers.  There are also countless religions and beliefs in the world today.  It’s correct to say that people throughout the ages have claimed to be the Christ but in recent times the numbers have exploded.  The true Christ warned of this approximately 2000 years ago, “Many will come in my name saying I am the Christ.”

Jesus Christ also said He was the way the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me; John chapter 14 verse 6.  In other words He is the only way to eternal life in the Kingdom of God.  This statement leaves no option of any other alternative way to salvation:  It is exclusive not inclusive the only way to God is through belief in and following the teaching of Christ Jesus.  He underlined this claim in John chapter 10 verse 9; by saying “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.”

The choice for the individual is to believe these and other statements made by Jesus or not.  Entrance into the coming Kingdom of God is not compulsory; it will not be forced on anybody it is purely by the free will choice of the individual.
