Prophecy concerning Christ Jesus continued

Jesus Christ would work His Priestly Office from Heaven.

Zechariah chapter 6 verse 13 It is he who will build the temple of the LORD, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’ (written about 520bc)

Romans chapter 8 verse 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. (written about 58ad)

Hebrews chapter 7 verse 25 to chapter 8 verse 2 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.  Such a high priest meets our need–one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.  Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.  For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.  The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,  and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man. (written about 70ad)

Jesus Christ would be the corner/cap stone of God’s community

Isaiah chapter 28 verse 16 So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed. (written about 750bc)

Psalm 118 verses 22-23 The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;  the LORD has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes. (written about 1000bc)

Matthew chapter 21 verse 42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone ; the Lord has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes’? (written about 60ad)

Ephesians chapter 2 verse 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. (written about 60ad)

1 Peter chapter 2 verses 5-7 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”  Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,” (written about 68ad)

Jesus Christ would be sought after by the world

Isaiah chapter 11 verse 10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious.

Isaiah chapter 42 verse 1 “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations (written about 750bc)

Acts chapter 10 verse 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles (other people groups).

Acts chapter 13 verses 46-48 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.  For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'”  When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honoured the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. (written about 70ad)

Jesus Christ would be accepted by the world’s nations.

Isaiah chapter 42 verses 1-4 “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.  He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets.  A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;  he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope.”

Isaiah chapter 49 verse 1  Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the LORD called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name.

Isaiah chapter 49 verse 12 See, they will come from afar– some from the north, some from the west, some from the region of Aswan.” (written about 750bc)

Matthew chapter 12 verses 15-21  Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick,  warning them not to tell who he was.  This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:  “Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.  He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.  A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory.  In his name the nations will put their hope.” (written about 60ad)

Romans chapter 9 verse 30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;

Romans chapter 10 verse 20 And Isaiah boldly says, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”

Romans chapter 11 verse 11  Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.

Romans chapter 15 verse 10  Again, it says, “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.” (written about 58ad)
