Stumble On

Fear of Your strength and capability Lord
I doubt myself-and rightly so
If I’m not ‘here’ and fixed on You
How do I move or hope to grow?
I often mock myself inside
And do not take You seriously
Tis all a joke with careless awe
And so I creep on dangerously.
This treasure that we have within
Sounds so simple to have and hold
And why do I run so and turn my head
From such a truth I know of old?
And still beckons the worldly, frills-vanity galore
Enough to lose my entire soul
Leaving me at a loss as to what life’s all for
What if I lose grip forever
Forget that I forgot the meaning
For YOU are what makes ME worth keeping
Oh ancient rock on which I’m leaning
And yes, tis right to praise You always
It is in built and natural
Oh how unselfishly complete
For though I’m wretched
You don’t fail me
And if I love myself or not
It helps to learn You always will
And so another small step closer
And as I thank You, nearer still.
